Christmas & New Year Storms
The Christmas Day 2023 supercell and the storms that followed brought destructive winds and 8 cm hail through the Gold Coast hinterland and Scenic Rim, driving $1.33 billion in claims, the costliest Australian weather event of that year.

Halloween Hailstorm
31 October 2020: hail up to 14 cm, an Australian record at the time, along a corridor from Amberley to northern Logan. Springfield Lakes was worst affected. Final tally: 44,000+ claims and about $1.08 billion.
